Job Description

We seek an experienced, highly strategic Head of Product to lead and grow our product team. In the current era of Hyper Innovation, strategic decisions on investment and product priorities, and an ability to understand key technology shifts, are critical to our long-term success as a SaaS platform.  You will play a central role in guiding our technology vision, ensuring that we continue to deliver innovative, reliable and intuitive software to our clients.

The Head of Product will oversee our product lifecycle, leveraging the skills of our product managers and Project Managers. We will be asking you to lead the vision and idea generation, while guiding product development through your team:  customer research, wireframes and specifications, and cross-functional alignment. This is a strategic leadership role, but one that also requires hands-on involvement in product design and planning.

You will mentor our team of Product Managers and Project Managers, ensuring they are empowered to succeed, while contributing directly to the most critical product initiatives yourself. You will also interact with key stakeholders across our company, including the software developers and QA Engineers on our technology team, members of our Client Success team, and members of our Growth (sales and marketing) team.

Key Responsibilities

Product Vision & Strategy

  • Working closely with the CEO, you will define and champion the overall product vision and strategy, aligning it with client needs, company goals, commercial objectives, and market trends
  • Drive company-level prioritization across competing initiatives, balancing user needs, compliance requirements, resource availability, and revenue opportunities
  • Develop and maintain a clear product roadmap, balancing innovation, usability, scalability and reliability
  • Communicate product vision and priorities effectively across teams, from executive leadership to Engineering, Growth and Client Success

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor and grow the Product team, fostering a culture of curiosity, accountability and collaboration
  • Establish clear roles, responsibilities and career paths for Product Managers
  • Create strong partnerships with Engineering, ensuring smooth collaboration and shared ownership of outcomes
  • Formulate and manage the Product team budget
  • Serve on the Engaging Networks Leadership Team, helping to guide company strategy and strengthen our company culture

Product Development Process

  • Working with the Product Managers, oversee the early phases of product development, including requirements gathering, market research, client and partner interviews, and competitive analysis
  • Evaluate our internal processes and implement new ones if needed, including the introduction of templates for key requirements
  • Oversee Product team members in translating findings into detailed user stories, wireframes and product specifications
  • Ensure specifications are clear, comprehensive and actionable for the Engineering team
  • Partner with Engineering leadership to define scope, set priorities and manage trade-offs
  • Monitor progress and proactively remove obstacles to ensure timely, high-quality product releases

Customer & Partner Engagement

  • Lead the Product Manager team to actively engage with clients and partners – including web development agencies and technology firms – to understand their needs, pain points and technology goals
  • Use customer feedback and data-driven insights to contribute to the highly competitive matrix of product decisions
  • Serve as our primary, most visible product leader in client meetings, in partner discussions, in our annual Engaging Networks Community Conferences, and at occasional nonprofit sector events

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with the Engineering, Client Success and Growth teams to ensure smooth product launches and successful adoption of new features by clients and partners
  • Work with Project Manager to ensure training, enablements and documentation to internal teams on new features and functionality are released
  • Help ensure the technical accuracy of external messaging and positioning that highlights the value of our product innovations

Continuous Improvement

  • Manage team to ensure tracking and analysis of product usage, customer feedback, and market trends is incorporated to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Establish and monitor key product metrics to measure success
  • Lead change management and reprioritization, in response to market, client or strategic shifts
  • Stay ahead of SaaS technology trends in nonprofit fundraising, donor management and supporter engagement, to identify growth opportunities and ensure Engaging Networks continues to set the market standard

Relevant Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 8+ years of progressive product management experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role supervising Product Managers
  • Proven track record of leading product strategy and execution at an innovation-focussed SaaS company
  • Strong understanding of UI and front-end design principles, as well as back-end development considerations
  • Demonstrated ability to turn customer needs and market insights into actionable product requirements
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with and clearly explain concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills, with a passion for mentoring and developing talent
  • Experience working with nonprofit-focused software or mission-driven organizations is a plus, but is not required

Compensation

The salary range for this role is $170,000 to $200,000 annually, with the final offer determined based on experience, skills, and qualifications.

Engaging Networks provides its employees with an ample health, dental, and vision plan, as well as paid vacation, paid sick days, paid parental leave, and other employee benefits that vary somewhat according to whether you’re located in the USA or Canada.
