I hope you haven’t missed the buzz about #GivingTuesdayNow.

This global movement to inspire giving amidst the COVID-19 pandemic will take place on Tuesday, May 5, 2020. It builds on the spirit of Giving Tuesday – one of the biggest fundraising days of the year.

The COVID-19 pandemic is having a severe impact on people, institutions, and our causes. Philanthropy is needed now more than ever. While there may be hesitation to fundraise in the midst of this turmoil, our advice is to do something on #GivingTuesdayNow.

If you can build a page or set up a fundraiser relevant to the current world condition, you should. If your cause doesn’t lend itself to creating an emergency fund or similar, encourage supporters to build fundraising pages using a unique peer-to-peer campaign. Or, build a fundraising page referencing #GivingTuesdayNow with an earnest heartfelt ask to support your work.

People want to help now more than ever and your cause is important to them. Give them confidence that your work will continue. No matter the mission, giving is critical amidst a global crisis.

To help, we are waiving Engaging Networks transaction fees on May 5th in support and solidarity. That’s right. Charities using the Engaging Networks platform to fundraise on May 5, 2020 – #GivingTuesdayNow – will not be charged transaction fees that day.

The account services team first suggested waiving our fees to help out during this global crisis. I love that the idea came from them. It says a lot about what is at the heart of our company.
