From Research to Result: My Experience as an Intern at Engaging Networks
When I began my experience as a TNPA Leading EDGE intern at Engaging Networks, I was excited to apply what I was learning as a Marketing major with a Business Analytics minor at Towson University to real-world marketing projects.
I expected to strengthen my professional skills, but I quickly realized this internship would offer much more than that. It introduced me to the nonprofit technology industry, challenged me with meaningful projects, and connected me with professionals who genuinely cared about my growth. Looking back, my internship experience has been one of the most rewarding parts of my college journey.
Experience as an Intern: A Foundation for Growth
From my first week, I was trusted with projects that allowed me to contribute to the team in meaningful ways. Rather than observing from the sidelines, I was encouraged to ask questions, share ideas, and take ownership of my work. Every project gave me the opportunity to develop new skills while seeing how marketing supports nonprofit organizations and the important work they do.
One of my favorite aspects of the internship was the variety of work I experienced. No two projects were exactly alike, which allowed me to continuously learn something new while building confidence in my abilities.
Working on Different Marketing Projects
One of the most rewarding aspects of my internship was the opportunity to contribute to a wide variety of marketing projects. Rather than focusing on one responsibility, I was able to support initiatives across content marketing, research, digital strategy, and professional development.
Some of the projects and experiences I had the opportunity to work on included:
- Writing the Partner Roundup: Created the June Partner Roundup blog post highlighting resources, partners, and updates from Engaging Networks trusted partners while strengthening my professional writing skills.
- Marketing Competitor Research: Conducted competitive analyses of nonprofit technology platforms by comparing their products, messaging, features, pricing, and overall market positioning.
- Supporting Social Media and Content Marketing: Assisted with creating digital content that aligned with Engaging Networks marketing strategy and helped engage nonprofit audiences.
- Learning Salesforce: Gained hands-on exposure to Salesforce, developing a better understanding of how customer relationship management supports marketing, fundraising, and supporter engagement.

Attending the Bridge Conference
While every project contributed to my growth, attending the 2026 Bridge to Integrated Marketing & Fundraising Conference was easily my favorite experience during my internship. It gave me the opportunity to step outside of my day-to-day responsibilities and immerse myself in the nonprofit fundraising community. Throughout the conference, I attended educational sessions on fundraising strategy, digital engagement, advocacy, and emerging technology, giving me a broader perspective on the industry.
One of the most valuable parts of the conference was the opportunity to network with nonprofit professionals, technology partners, and industry leaders from across the country while actively participating in sessions and learning from experts in the field.
I also had the opportunity to attend alongside my fellow Engaging Networks intern, Faruq Yekini, which made the experience even more meaningful. Experiencing the conference together not only strengthened our friendship but also allowed us to see how each of us worked, learned, and stepped outside of our comfort zones in a professional setting. Attending the Bridge Conference brought together everything I had learned throughout my internship and left me feeling inspired to pursue a career where I can combine marketing, technology, and purpose to create lasting impact.
Support Beyond the Office
While the projects helped me grow professionally, the people at Engaging Networks made my internship truly memorable. From the very beginning, the team created an environment where I felt comfortable asking questions, sharing ideas, and seeking advice. Whether we were collaborating on projects or simply having conversations throughout the workday, I always felt welcomed and supported.
That encouragement extended well beyond my day-to-day responsibilities. When I planned a trip to New York with friends, Annmarie Beacham, Sales Operation Manager, and other members of the team shared recommendations for restaurants, attractions, and places to visit. Team members were also happy to provide feedback on school projects, offer advice while I prepared career applications, and share their own professional experiences. Knowing I could turn to people who genuinely wanted to see me succeed made me feel like more than just an intern.
Learning Beyond the Desk
Although my internship was primarily remote, I quickly learned how to collaborate effectively in a virtual environment. Regular meetings, open communication, and teamwork helped me stay connected while building professional relationships from a distance. This experience strengthened my communication skills and showed me that meaningful collaboration can happen regardless of location.

Conclusion
Looking back, my experience as an intern at Engaging Networks wasn’t defined by one project or accomplishment, but by the combination of meaningful work, supportive mentors, and opportunities to continuously learn and grow.
From writing Partner Roundups and conducting competitor research to gaining experience with Salesforce, attending the Bridge Conference, and receiving encouragement from my team, every experience helped shape me as both a student and a future marketing professional.
As I continue my education at Towson University, I look forward to building on that momentum by attending the 2026 Business Today International Conference in November to further expand my knowledge, gain new perspectives, and continue growing my professional network.
My internship experience taught me that the best opportunities are the ones that challenge you, fuel your curiosity, and surround you with people who inspire you to keep learning.
